Funding
Rust depends on hundreds of contributors who improve it on a daily basis, many of whom are volunteers. We want them to be properly supported to ensure the long-term health of the Rust Project. We are very grateful for any financial contributions that go towards supporting the development and maintenance of Rust. This page describes several ways how you can support Rust contributors.
If your company would like to discuss how it could financially support Rust, please reach out the Funding team.
Fund maintenance
Continuous maintenance is crucial to ensure that the Rust toolchain will be working correctly long-term and will be able to evolve without facing insurmountable technical debt. The Rust Foundation Maintainers Fund collects donations used to provide stable funding for contributors who maintain critical areas of the Rust toolchain. This program is managed by the Funding team, which communicates both with Rust teams and sponsors and selects the funded Maintainers in Residence.
Contribute to this fund if you want to let us choose where your money will benefit the development and maintenance of Rust the most.
Fund features and improvements
Rust Project Goals track various initiatives to add new features or make improvements to the Rust language and its toolchain. Some of those Goals require funding, to allow the contributors to dedicate time and focus for working on the improvement.
Fund Project Goals if your company wants to help push forward specific initiatives to improve Rust.
Sponsor individual contributors
Several Rust Project contributors have their own personal GitHub Sponsors account. If you want to sponsor specific individuals who work on Rust, you can do so below.
